Election for 2019-21 Executive Committee

Dear Sir/Madam,
A. The Assam Association, Mumbai has trustworthily bestowed on me the responsibility to conduct the election of its Executive Committee for the term 2019-2021.
B. By virtue of the power so vested in me as Presiding Officer of The Association, I hereby issue this notification announcing detailed schedule of the biennial election of the Executive Committee of “The Assam Association, Mumbai” for the term 2019-2021 and appeal to the learned members of the Association to take part in the election and build a friendly and healthy competitive environment by upholding the estimable objective principles of the association.
C. The Executive Committee of The Association will consists the following posts (number of the post is indicated in the parentheses):
a. President : (1); b. Vice-President : (4*) [* i) Mumbai: (1), ii) Navi Mumbai: (1), iii) No Area restriction: (2)];
c. General Secretary : (1); d. Joint Secretary : (4*) [* i) Mumbai: (1), ii) Navi Mumbai : (1), iii) No Area restriction: (2)];
e. Treasure : (1); f. Executive Member: (14*)[* i) Colaba to Dadar: (1), ii) Matunga to Andheri/Thane: (2),
iii) Goregaon to Virar: (2), iv) Beyond Thane: (1), v) Chembur, Vashi, Sanpada, Koperkhairane: (3), vi) Juinagar to Kalamboli: (2), vii) Panvel city (outside ONGC Colony): (1), (viii) No area restriction: (2) [reserved for Woman].
D. Schedule for the election is furnished below:
1. Last date for receiving the duly filled nomination forms : 30.01.2019
2. Scrutiny and declaration of valid nomination : 01.02.2019
3. Last date for withdrawal of nomination : 03.02.2019
E. In the event that number of nomination received for a particular post is higher than the number of the post vacant, election shall be held for such post(s) by secret ballot on Saturday 16th February 2019 from 16:00 to 20:00 hrs at Assam Bhawan, Vashi, Navi Mumbai, Sector: 30A, followed by counting of ballot papers and announcement of the results. The Association has informed that Eid-E-Milad will be celebrated on the same day.
F. Nominations (in the attached form) are invited form the Members of the Association for election to the above mentioned posts as prescribed under ‘Para C’. It may be noted that only Life Members of The Association in good standing shall be eligible for submitting nomination for the posts mentioned under Para C, in serial nos. a, c and e.
G. A member can submit nomination for only one post. The Proposer and a Supporter have to be member of the Association. List of members of the Association updated as on January 15, 2019 shall form the Electoral Roll for the election.
H. A candidate seeking nomination for a post mentioned in Para C above at serial nos. b, d and f (indicated with asterisks against the number of posts) is required to fill name of the area of his/her representation. Such a candidate, his/her Proposer and Supporter shall ordinarily be resident of the respective area of representation. Two posts reserved for women candidates are the exception [Para C, Serial no. f (viii)].
I. A scanned copy of the duly filled nomination paper sent to the email address <election.aam@gmail.com> as an attachment file shall be accepted if it is confirmed by the candidate on telephone number: 022 -2557 6784 or cell phone number: 9833093211 up to 30.01.2019 between 20-00 to 23-00 hrs.
J. Telephonic communication regarding withdrawal of nomination papers (if any) by a candidate shall be accepted up to 1800 hrs on 03.02.2019, only if supported by an email or any other written communication.
K. Nomination form sent by post in sealed cover to the undersigned at following address shall also be accepted up to January 30, 2019.

L. Recruitment of new membership may be rigorously pursued keeping in view the interest of The Association and wider publicity may be given to this election notification for strengthening the democratic spirit among all the concerned.
